How it works

“Practice everything” is not a great plan.

You already know how to practice. The hard part is knowing what to practice when there’s a recital next week, a gig tomorrow, and a few auditions on the horizon. You can't always get to everything. Practice Room Playbook helps you decide what matters today, in three steps.

1

Add your pieces

Type them in or import a PDF rep list, then tag the performance each piece is for.

2

Rate honestly

A quick 1–5 rating is enough to start. Add technical challenges and endurance demands as you go.

3

Open Today's Practice

See what needs your attention first. Your priorities are listed in order and update as you log more practice.

Your full practice list, in order

Practice Need shows you which pieces need the most work.

Every piece gets a Practice Need score based on how ready it is, how long it's been since you practiced it, and how close its performance is. The pieces with the greatest need rise to the top of Today's Practice. As things change, your list changes with them.

FAQ

Questions & answers

Do I need to download anything?

No. Practice Room Playbook is a web app that runs in your browser, so you can use it on your computer, phone, or tablet without installing anything.

Why isn't this in the app store?

It's a web app by design. Building for the web lets me push updates quickly and keeps costs low, which keeps the app affordable for you. A mobile app may come down the road, but only when it makes sense — I'm keeping a close eye on cost.

How does it decide what to practice first?

Each piece gets a Practice Need score based on how ready you've rated it, how long it's been since you practiced it, and how close its next performance is. The pieces that need you most rise to the top of Today's Practice. You can also flag a piece as a priority to keep it near the top.

Do I have to log every practice session?

No. The app is still useful if you only check in now and then. Logging a session and updating a rating sharpens your next list, but it doesn't need constant input to work.

Can one piece count toward more than one performance?

Yes. Assign a piece to as many performances as you need, and its readiness counts toward each of them.

Does it work if I play more than one instrument?

Yes. Tag pieces by instrument and filter your list down to whichever one you're focusing on that day.

Can I import my repertoire instead of typing it in?

Yes. Upload a PDF rep or audition list and the app pulls the pieces into your library for you.

Is my practice data private?

Yes. Your data belongs to your account, and you can export a backup or re-import it whenever you want.

Do you offer discounts for schools, studios, or groups?

Yes. Get in touch and we'll work out education, studio, or group pricing that fits your situation. Contact us →
